Outcomes
Expected Outcomes of the work of the NCCD Center for Girls and Young Women
The short term goals of the Center are to:
- Raise awareness regarding the critical needs of girls and
young women in the justice and child welfare systems
- Provide accurate information to inform policy, programming and practice
- Engage researchers, administrators, practitioners and advocates in meaningful dialogue to bridge differences and find agreement on the most effective policies, programs, and practices
- Reshape the response to girls at the local, state, and national level
- Maximize agency resources
Long-Term goals:
- Reduce the numbers of girls in the child welfare and juvenile justice system
Improve outcomes for girls by effectively addressing the multiple issues that impact their lives
The following outcomes are being tracked:
- Increase in number programs effectively using gender-responsive strategies with girls;
- Percentage of programs that report equitable changes in allocation of program resources;
- Increase in number of new program staff that are trained;
- Number of staff exhibiting increased knowledge of JAIS™ (gender-specific assessment) and Girl Matters™ (gender-respsonsive staff training curriculum);
- Number of programs that have modified policies or procedures based on system recommendations;
- Percentage of staff who are satisfied with training and program model;
- Percentage of changed community attitudes regarding girls issues as compared to baseline.
